A communication plan is an important policy to include in
your company safety plan. The owner/boss is not going to be able to be on
the job every hour of operations. A communication plan needs to
designate who will oversee the job in case of emergencies, threatening
weather, and break downs for instances. This plan should also be clear
about who will talk to the landowner, the forester, or visitors and should
explain the perimeters of discussion whenever the boss is absent.
Communication is so important for efficient and safe operations to
happen. For a logging operation to accomplish these two goals communication needs to be maintained between all machines on the job.
CB and two-way radios are the quickest way to connect with everyone.
Mobile phones are good but are often hindered by poor signals and phones
are not as fast and do not alert all the crew at once.
